Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra: Spring Gala Concert

Please join the Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra as they close out our 2016-2017 season with a Spring Gala Concert! We will be premiering Chris Acquavella – Mandolin’s Four Melodies, which won the KMGO Call for Scores contest earlier this year. It promises to be an exciting concert.

The Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra is a plucked string ensemble consisting of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, guitars, and bass. The KMGO was founded in 2003 to revive the mandolin orchestra tradition in Kalamazoo. Under the direction of conductor Philip Rugel, the orchestra enjoys performing a wide variety of music including classical, ethnic, and “golden era” mandolin orchestra music. The orchestra has premiered original music composed for the orchestra and have sponsored workshops with international mandolin virtuosi. The KMGO is sponsored by Crescendo Academy of Music.
