The mandolin duo of Brian Oberlin and Evan Marshall will perform a free concert on May 20th, 2017 at the First Congregational Church in downtown Kalamazoo at 7:00. Oberlin and Marshall will perform tunes from the Classical, Swing, Bluegrass and American Folk traditions, as well as their own original compositions.

Brian Oberlin is an internationally acclaimed mandolin player and educator. Along with the myriad of award-winning bands and ensembles he has collaborated with throughout the United States and Europe, Oberlin is also the founder and director of the River of the West Mandolin Camp and the Oregon Mandolin Orchestra. Evan J. Marshall is an internationally renowned mandolin virtuoso and is widely regarded as the world’s premier solo performer on mandolin in Duo-Style. By himself, he sounds like several of the world’s fi nest mandolinists performing together. Country guitar
legend Chet Atkins called Evan “A true virtuoso, one of the few great musicians of our time.”

In addition to performing, Oberlin and Marshall will be giving workshops for all those interested on May 21, 2017 at Crescendo Academy of Music, located in the Epic Center in downtown Kalamazoo.
