Brian is largely self-taught, but also studied art as a child at the Kalamazoo Art Institute and later at Western Michigan University and the Chicago Art Institute's Oxbow School. Creating paintings from plein-aire (on location) and studio sessions, his paintings include varied landcape images from the Great Lakes shorelines, the Southwestern United States, Michigan farmlands and wetlands, to Central America island views. He travels with a pochade box painting "kit" often stopping along the way to complete quick alkyd (fast drying oil) sketches and small paintings that form the basis for larger paintings completed in the studio. His paintings are included in private collections around the United States and in Germany as well as corporate collections. His work has received awards in The Kalamazoo Art Institute's annual juried show, Krasl Art Center and Carnegie Art Center juried shows. He has been the Artist-in-Residence for The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore, and a regular participant in the popular Arts Council of Kalamazoo's Gallery Hop events. Patrons are welcome to contact the artist and visit the studio (located 15 minutes from Kalamazoo) . Availability: Can be contacted anytime about shows, commissions, etc. Rates: Prices varied depending on piece
